whenever i talk about the things i like that happen to be from Africa someone appears in my inbox telling me i’m appropriating and then yeah self-loathing and confusion for several hours afterward i don’t know what to do or say to fix this?!?! i just like these things? aaaaah no i don’t mean to be at all  this is really distressing 

 one of my main campaigns in life is to maybe point out that appreciating things from other cultures is not appropriating and being deeply in love with things people do in other places is totally okay 

everyone should not constantly be cringing and flinching because they really want to listen to music from bangladesh and tell people about it

with the right intent, it’s okay, it really is
no one should be offended
but instead excited
we’re all sharing
